The screen is not the document

Two bugs reported from daily use had one wrong idea behind them: that where a cell appears on screen is where its text lives. One made the copy shortcut jump a scrolled-back pane to the bottom; the other let the highlight drift onto different text. Both are fixed and will ship in the next release.

gpty v0.7.0

v0.7.0 puts local media in the grid. A new media pane plays audio and video from disk through a pinned, minimal FFmpeg build, with transport controls, pane status, and the same closed path and codec tables as every other untrusted input gPTY accepts. The release also makes the first keystroke land at launch, asks before a close stops running work, and moves the CLI to a single-threaded runtime.

gpty v0.6.0

v0.6.0 is the knowledge-base release. A new wiki pane opens a vault of plain Markdown notes, indexes it for full-text search, edits notes with a live preview, follows [[wikilinks]] in place, draws the vault’s link graph, and exposes search and read to agents over the pane API. The file tree also learned to open supported files in a viewer pane instead of handing them to the desktop.

gpty v0.5.6

v0.5.6 is the control-surface release: one gPTY instance owns the socket, the CLI starts a GUI only when the command needs one, and a CLI from a different release says which side is stale instead of failing obscurely. Plugin concepts reach the engine they were validated against, daemon status --json answers JSON on every path, and a pane’s agent-state observers are told each state exactly once.

gpty v0.5.5

v0.5.5 is the plugin release: gpty-plugin.toml as a validated manifest, an install that a human reviews before anything lands, the tool layouts moved out of gpty and into plugin repos, and a registry the docs site renders. Alongside it, the pane surface grew the pieces plugins needed - a cli_view pane that streams a program’s output without a Godot SDK, an agent-state contract for custom panes, and a consent store so Workspace Trust asks once instead of every time. Under that, the Windows concept matcher was found dead and repaired, and a batch of correctness fixes landed: pane-wait’s socket, the history store’s lock, a dead pane that claimed to be running.

gpty v0.5.4

v0.5.4 is the release where concepts became visible: a GraphEdit canvas that authors the same concepts.json the engine already ran, conditions that narrow a match instead of widening it, and an ordering rule - the canvas order is the precedence order. Under that sits the platform half: a Windows runtime smoke that exercises the real pipeline, a security pass over the control socket and the persistence stores, and the backpressure that stops a flooding pane growing the process or freezing the window. The license changed as well: GPL-3.0-or-later, with section 7 exceptions that keep plugins and data files free.

gpty v0.5.3

v0.5.3 is the audit release: a security pass over the whole codebase, one capability removed on purpose, and the hardening that came out of it - plus the terminal work that was queued behind it. Panes track the mouse for the apps that ask, painting text got a fifth cheaper, and a flooding pane now slows itself down instead of spending every frame on the UI thread.

gpty v0.5.1

v0.5.1 makes gPTY persistent: scrollback survives restarts and becomes full-text searchable (with a new search UI), named workspaces keep panes alive across switches, and the whole pane API is exercised by a live smoke test in CI.

gpty v0.5.2

v0.5.2 is the Agent State & Adapters release: terminals can now report what an agent is doing through authenticated events, a published OSC declaration, or plain heuristics; and the titlebar shows it at a glance. The event channel speaks an adapter-neutral vocabulary on every platform, and Inspector gains a generic CLI backend so any agent CLI can answer questions.

gpty v0.5.0

v0.5.0 marks the ADE release milestone - an agent-facing API on top of the PTY foundation; stable pane IDs, pane read/status/run/wait, event subscriptions, broadcast, and a shipped agent skill.
